Levi or even Levy (לֵוִי Standard Hebrew Levi, Tiberian Hebrew Lēwî) was the founder of the Levite tribe of ancient Israel. He was the boy of Leah and Jacob, also referred to as Israel, world health organization was successively the boy of Isaac, the boy of Abraham.

A Bible describes Levi as a clever but fierce politician & soldier, prone to fits of anger. A Bible tells of while Shechem (a Hivite) had raped Levi's sister, Dinah. Whilst Shechem come to asking to exist as given Dinah as a married woman, Levi by having his brother Simeon agreed to a marriage on the condition that the Hivites become circumcised. Shechem agreed to this, however on a third day after a mass circumcision, when the Hivites were however sore, Levi & Simeon led an attack on the Hivite city & flushed all the Hivite men & appropriated their wealth (Gen 34). He was as well taking part in the plot to wipe out his half-brother Joseph. Jacob refused to produce Levi his heir in account of his anger (Gen 49:5).

Levi got tercet sons; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Based on data from a Bible, Levi lived to become 137 years old (Ex 6:16).

A best known descendent of Levi was Moses, who received a law from either God on Mt. Sinai in the Book of Exodus. His brother, Aaron, became the number one Levite High-priest of Israel, called the Kohen - Gadol.

In a book of Malachi in the Bible, God explains how come he chose the humans of Levi to exist as his priest. It states when follows:

Quadruplet"Then you will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that My covenant may continue with Levi," says a LORD of hosts. Quintuplet"My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him as an object of reverence; so he revered Me and stood in awe of My name. 6"Confessedly instructiinside was within his mouth & unrighteousness was non witnessed on his lips; he walked by owning Us in peace & uprightness, & he turned several back from either iniquity.
